Selection: The selection methodology will comprise of the following
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)-2013 score of the candidates in the concerned disciplines
The graduate engineers from the relevant disciplines, desirous of taking up a career with Hindustan Petroleum are required to appear in GATE-2013
On the basis of GATE-2013 score/marks, the candidates will be short listed for further selection process comprising of group discussion/group task and or personal interview for assessment of different facets of knowledge, skill, attitude and aptitude

GATE score of 2012 or prior to that is not valid
Candidates will have to qualify through each stage of selection process successfully before being adjudged as suitable for selection
Selected candidates shall have All India transfer liability and may be posted to any division/ unit/ subsidiary company/office of the corporation
Training/Remuneration: Selected candidates will initially undergo training for six months
During the training period, Officer Trainees will be entitled for a consolidated stipend @ Rs 33,000/- per month

Candidates need to purchase the GATE application form as per the information provided in GATE-2013 websites
They should fill in and submit the GATE application form as instructed by the GATE authorities and wait for the admit card to get the GATE registration number
The candidates will receive their GATE-2013 registration number printed on their admit card
On receipt of GATE registration number, the candidates need to apply to Hindustan Petroleum on line

Candidates should click on the on line application link, read the instructions carefully and fill in the on line application form giving accurate information including the GATE-2013 registration number
Candidates should keep scan copy of passport size photo (in jpg/gif format less than 500 kb)
Upon completion, the candidate should submit the online application by clicking the submit button a the bottom of the page
If the same is accepted, the system will generate a unique application ID along with the completed application form
Candidates should take a print out of completed application, affix his/her recent passport size photograph, put his/her signature at the space provided and keep with him/her safely for future reference
The passport size photograph affixed by the candidate should be the same submitted along with GATE-2013 application form
In case the candidate called for GD/GT and or interview, he/she should come with this printed application form, along with GATE-2013 admit card and GATE-2013 original official score card
Candidates should ensure that the relevant detail (name, date of birth, address etc) entered in HPCL online application should be same as entered in the GATE-2013 application
The last date for receiving online application for HPCL is 14th February, 2013
A non-refundable amount of Rs 200/- plus applicable banking charges towards processing fee is required to be paid by general/OBC-NC candidates while applying for HPCL

No processing fee is applicable for SC/ST/PwD candidates

Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale-I)

Educational Qualification (as on 01st December, 2011): A post graduate degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the degree level; or a post graduate degree in Sankrit with English and Hindi as subjects at the degree level
In addition to the above educational qualification/experience the candidate is also required to have Computer Knowledge
He/she should have a certification in computer course
All educational qualifications should be from a recognised university/board

Interview: Maximum marks for interview will be 100

Selection Procedure: Depending on the number of vacancies, only those candidates who have secured the minimum qualifying marks stipulated as stated above under common written examination (CWE) conducted by IBPS (subject wise objective test) and rank sufficiently high in the order of merit shall be called for a personal interview
The candidates should have valid score card issued by IBPS
Mere pass in the common written examination shall not vest any right in a candidate for being called for personal interview

Selection Process

Candidates shall have the option for appearing the group discussion/interview in Hindi or English
Eligible candidates will have to appear for the Electrical Engineering (EE) paper of GATE-2013
Candidates obtaining a valid score shall only be eligible for the next stage of selection
The score is valid only if the candidate obtains more than or equal to the qualifying marks as fixed for the EE paper of GATE 2013
The qualifying marks for GATE examination shall be as per the criteria adopted by the GATE-2013 examination conducting authority for different categories
Qualified candidates shall be short listed category wise for group discussion and personal interview based on their marks (out of 100) in the EE paper of GATE-2013

Selection Process:
The selection process consists of written test and Interview. Eligible candidates will have to appear in the written test consisting of two parts; Part-1-Objective Part and Part-2- Subjective part.
Part-I – Objective type Screening Test. 
This part would consist of multiple choice objective type questions. Maximum permissible time for this part of examination is 80 minutes.
Syllabus for Part-I: General Ability Test, Reasoning, General Awareness, English and Accountancy.
Marks obtained in part-I (objective part) of written examination would be for shortlisting the candidates for Part-II subjective test only and will not be taken into account for short listing the candidate for interview/personality test or final empanelment.
Part-II- Subjective Type written test:

Interview/Personality Test:
The candidates to the extent of 5 times the number of vacancies in each community will only be shortlisted for the interview/personality test on the basis of their performance in the part II (subjective part)

Q.1 What is minimum educational qualification for advertised position?
Ans. Candidates should have passed qualifying degree examinations and awarded  full  time bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology in the advertised disciplines (full time regular courses only) from recognized Indian Universities/ Institutes.

Q.2 I have done AMIE, am I eligible to apply for the notified post?
Ans. For advertised position, qualifications prescribed stipulate, full time regular course/s from AICTE approved / UGC recognized University/Deemed University and the courses offered by Autonomous Institutions  equivalent to the relevant courses approved / recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/UGC/AICTE. Q.3 What is the total Number of vacancies?

Q.4 I have completed my B.E. / B.Tech Engineering degree after diploma in engineering. How should I calculate my aggregate marks?

Q.5 I have a B.E. / B. Tech degree in a branch which has not been specified in the detailed advertisement. Can I apply my Engineering Discipline?
Ans. No. Candidates having engineering degree in a branch other than specified in the detailed advertisement are not eligible to apply.

Q.6 How will Hindustan Petroleum use GATE score?
Ans. HPCL will use GATE-2013 score for short listing of the candidates, who have applied to HPCL. Further selection process will consist of GD/GT and or personal interview.  HPCL will get the GATE-2013 scores directly from GATE authorities. Only those candidates, who have appear in GATE-2013 in the relevant disciplines and have registered themselves with HPCL  would be considered for further selection process in HPCL.

Q.7 GATE conducts its examination in so many papers. Will scores from all the papers be considered by HPCL?

Q.8 I appeared in GATE last year. Do I need to write GATE in this year again?
Ans. Yes. GATE-2013 score is the only valid score for consideration for recruitment in HPCL. Score from GATE-2012 or prior to that will not be  considered by HPCL for its recruitment purpose.

Q.9 Is there any upper age limit for appearing in GATE?

No. 12/3/2012-EI(B): A combined competitive examination for recruitment to Grade IV of the Services mentioned in Para 2 below will be held by the Union Public Service Commission commencing from 1st December 2012 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation in the Gazette of India dated the 1st September, 2012.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION:

An extra time of twenty minutes per hour shall be permitted for the candidates with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy where dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function (minimum of 40 % impairment) in Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination. However no scribe shall be permitted to such candidates.
