Prescribed full time degrees in engineering

Mechanical: Mechanical, Mechanical and Production
Civil: Civil
Electrical: Electrical, Electrical and Electronics
Electronics and Telecommunication: Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication
Instrumentation: Instrumentation, Instrumentation and Control, Electronics and Instrumentation, Instrumentation and Electronics

Education Qualification: Candidates should have passed qualifying degree examinations and awarded bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology in the above mentioned disciplines (full time regular courses only) from recognized Indian universities/institutes
Candidates (belonging to General/OBC-NC category) should have secured minimum 60% marks in qualifying degree examinations
It is relaxed to 50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates
Candidates currently in final year of their engineering studies may also apply
However, if selected, they must be in a position to submit their final mark sheet by 31st August, 2013
At the time of applying candidates (belonging to General/OBC-NC category) should have secured minimum 60% aggregate marks upto last semester examinations
It is relaxed to 50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates

Age Limit: Maximum 25 years as on 30th June, 2013 for the general category candidates

Physical Fitness: Desirous candidates seeking employment with Hindustan Petroleum needs to be medically fit as per Hindustan Petroleum’s pre-employment medical standard
Selection: The selection methodology will comprise of the following
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)-2013 score of the candidates in the concerned disciplines
The graduate engineers from the relevant disciplines, desirous of taking up a career with Hindustan Petroleum are required to appear in GATE-2013
On the basis of GATE-2013 score/marks, the candidates will be short listed for further selection process comprising of group discussion/group task and or personal interview for assessment of different facets of knowledge, skill, attitude and aptitude

GATE score of 2012 or prior to that is not valid
Candidates will have to qualify through each stage of selection process successfully before being adjudged as suitable for selection
Selected candidates shall have All India transfer liability and may be posted to any division/ unit/ subsidiary company/office of the corporation
Training/Remuneration: Selected candidates will initially undergo training for six months
During the training period, Officer Trainees will be entitled for a consolidated stipend @ Rs 33,000/- per month

How to apply
GATE-2013 online examination is scheduled on 20th January, 2013
GATE-2013 offline examination is scheduled on 10th February, 2013
For detailed information of GATE-2013, interested candidates may log on to http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in or websites of other IITs and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore
Candidates need to purchase the GATE application form as per the information provided in GATE-2013 websites
They should fill in and submit the GATE application form as instructed by the GATE authorities and wait for the admit card to get the GATE registration number
The candidates will receive their GATE-2013 registration number printed on their admit card
On receipt of GATE registration number, the candidates need to apply to Hindustan Petroleum on line
The relevant link will be made available from 24th December, 2012 at the careers opportunities link of Hindustan Petroleum website www.hindustanpetroleum.com
Candidates should click on the on line application link, read the instructions carefully and fill in the on line application form giving accurate information including the GATE-2013 registration number
Candidates should keep scan copy of passport size photo (in jpg/gif format less than 500 kb)
Upon completion, the candidate should submit the online application by clicking the submit button a the bottom of the page
If the same is accepted, the system will generate a unique application ID along with the completed application form
Candidates should take a print out of completed application, affix his/her recent passport size photograph, put his/her signature at the space provided and keep with him/her safely for future reference
The passport size photograph affixed by the candidate should be the same submitted along with GATE-2013 application form
In case the candidate called for GD/GT and or interview, he/she should come with this printed application form, along with GATE-2013 admit card and GATE-2013 original official score card
Candidates should ensure that the relevant detail (name, date of birth, address etc) entered in HPCL online application should be same as entered in the GATE-2013 application
The last date for receiving online application for HPCL is 14th February, 2013
A non-refundable amount of Rs 200/- plus applicable banking charges towards processing fee is required to be paid by general/OBC-NC candidates while applying for HPCL
The detail modalities of payment procedure will be advised in due course
No processing fee is applicable for SC/ST/PwD candidates
The candidates must have an active e-mail ID, which must remain valid for at least next one year
All future communication with the candidates will take place through e-mail only

Last date of online application for GATE-2013: 30th September, 2012
Commencement of online registration of application by candidates for HPCL: 24th December, 2012
Last date for online registration of application by candidates for HPCL: 14th February, 2013
GATE-2013 online examination: 20th January, 2013
GATE-2013 offline examination: 10th February, 2013

HPCL operates 2 major refineries producing a wide variety of petroleum fuels & specialties, one in Mumbai (West Coast) of 6.5 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) capacity and the other in Vishakapatnam, (East Coast) with a capacity of 8.3 MMTPA.[7] HPCL holds an equity stake of 16.95% in Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a state-of-the-art refinery at Mangalore with a capacity of 9 MMTPA. Another Refinery of 9 MMTPA is set-up in Bathinda, Punjab by HMEL, a Joint Venture with Mittal Energy Investments Pte.Ltd. HMEL has already started its commercial operations.
